EUBIONET 2  --  VISIT  Hits: 0

EUBIONET 2 is a bioenergy network project promoted by 16 partners of 12 countries supported by the EC under the Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme, with the aim of: a) analysing current and future biomass fuel market trends and biomass fuel prices;  b) collecting feedbacks on the suitability of CEN 335 solid biofuel standard for trading of biofuels; c) estimation techno-economic potential of biomass based on existing studies and expertise.

IR, AIP - All Island Project  --  VISIT  Hits: 0

The AIP All-Island Project has been launched by CER Commission for Energy Regulation of the Republic of Ireland and NIAER Northern Ireland Authority for Energy Regulation on 23.08.2004 by signing a MoU. Aim of AIP is to develop an AllIsland Electricity Market where "participants and customers will have equal rights respectively north and south of the border", with the target date for establishing a "wholesale electricty market" fixed at 01.07.2007.

PV Policy Group  --  VISIT  Hits: 3

The European PV Policy Group is a network of national energy agencies (initially representing 8 EU countries and more than 90% of the European solar market), complemented by the EC’s DG TREN and EPIA as transnational PV industry association. It is designed to exchange knowledge and ideas on key policy issues for PV promotion, not only at national level, but also with regard to an EU-wide alignment of support schemes and market monitoring systems from 2006 on.
Target group addressed are: a) the European Commission, b) National and regional governments and c) European PV industry and interest groups.
Duration of the project: 28 months (Jan. 2005 – April 2007).

PV Up-scale  --  VISIT  Hits: 5

Photovoltaic in Urban Policies - Strategic and Comprehensive Approach for Long-term Expansion, PV UP-SCALE, is a European-funded project (contract EIE/05/171/SI2.420208) relating to large-scale implementation of photovoltaics (PV) in European cities.
Its objective is to bring the stakeholders in the urban planning process to attention the economical drivers, bottlenecks like grid issues, the do and don’ts within the PV-urban planning process. To reach the urban decision makers workshops will be organised and a quality handbook will be written using gained experience with PV-Urban projects in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The project suits the activities that are executed in the IEA PVPS implementing agreement, in particular IEA PVPS Task 10. It takes information from Task 7 (building integrated PV), which ended in 2001 and Task 5 (grid issues), ended in 2003.

Wineur  --  VISIT  Hits: 6

Wineur is a project being developed by partners from France, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom with the financial assistance of the Intelligent Energy - Europe programme.
Major objectives of Wineur are to:
1.  Identify the conditions that need to be established for the integration of small wind turbines into the urban environment.
2.  Promote the emergence of this technology as a real option for electricity supply in towns and cities across Europe.
3.  Raise awareness amongst municipal authorities and decision-makers, because the promotion of wind energy technology in the city clearly rests on the involvement and take-up of this option by decision-makers at the local, city-wide level. For this reason several large European city authorities are associated to this project and will participate in activities for the duration of the project. The involvement of these municipalities represents a learning experience which will become an incentive for other European communities to get involved with this energy option in the future and provide the first step toward greater awareness of the potential of exploitation of wind energy in the city.
4.  Assess and improve the prospects for social, aesthetical, architectural and urban planning acceptability of such wind energy applications by raising public awareness, defining performance and technical guidelines.
Project duration spans between February 2005 and April 2007.
