CONCERTO Initiative  --  VISIT  Hits: 2
 

The Europe-wide CONCERTO Initiative has been launched and co-financed by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Research Programme. It addresses the challenges of creating a more sustainable future for Europe’s energy needs.
Today, within the CONCERTO initiative, there are a total of 28 communities in 9 projects working together to deliver the highest possible level of self-supply of energy. This objective is achieved through a combination of unique foresight and practical thinking.
The focus is primarily on demonstrating the environmental, economic and social benefits of integrating renewable energy sources together with energy efficiency techniques evidenced in the 28 demonstration communities.


PV UP-Scale  --  VISIT  Hits: 7
 

Photovoltaic in Urban Policies - Strategic and Comprehensive Approach for Long-term Expansion (PV UP-SCALE), is a EU-funded initiative (contract EIE/05/171/SI2.420208) related to the large-scale implementation of photovoltaics (PV) in European cities. Its objective is to bring the stakeholders in the urban planning process to attention the economical drivers, bottlenecks like grid issues, the do and don’ts within the PV-urban planning process.  To reach the urban decision makers workshops will be organised and a quality handbook will be written using gained experience with PV-Urban projects in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom.


SHERPA, Small Hydro Campaign  --  VISIT  Hits: 3
 

SHERPA Small Hydro Energy Efficient Promotion Campaign Action aims at developing a Promotion Campaign on Small Hydropower addressing the challenges and coping with the main barriers in Europe.  Potential benefits are: a) Strengthening market development of SHP in New Member States, b) Strengthening implementation and consistency of EU directives, c) Enhancing dialogue & involvement of all SHP stakeholders and NGOs, d) Promoting territorial approaches for SHP development.
The campaign is coordinated by ESHA and sees the involvement of several associations active in the SHP sector and is articultated into 7 working packages.
Duration of the campaign is from 10/2006 to 09/2008.

The Sustainable Energy Europe 2005-2008 Campaign is a European Commission initiative in the framework of the Intelligent Energy - Europe (2003-2006) programme, that aims to raise public awareness and promote sustainable energy production and use among individuals and organisations, private companies and public authorities, professional and energy agencies, industry associations and NGOs across Europe.

Community Action for Energy (CAfE) is a programme from the Energy Saving Trust that is designed to promote and facilitate local community-based energy projects.  Membership of the network is free and by joining one can keep up to date with news on community-based energy initiatives, as well as hearing about funding opportunities, training sessions and other news from the network.
