EEA, 2006, Energy & Environment in the EU -- (1903 K) |
Hits: 14 |
|
Energy and Environment in the European Union - Tracking progress towards integration (EEA Report No 8/2006). EU policy aims at integrating environmental requirements within the energy sector. This report of EEA (European Environment Agency) measures the progress towards such integration between 1990 and 2003. It builds on a set of EEA energy and environment indicators and related EEA Core Set Indicators (see 'related resources'). Source: EEA website (link)

EEA, 2007, Bioenergy potential from agriculture -- (1958 K) |
Hits: 17 |

Estimating the environmentally compatible bioenergy potential from agriculture (EEA Technical report No 12/2007). This report of EEA (European Environment Agency) provides technical background for the estimation of the environmentally compatible bioenergy potential from agriculture that the EEA published in 2006. It also gives information on agri-environmental pressures that explain the environmental conditions in the EEA scenario. Finally, policy measures are discussed that can be used to promote an environmentally compatible bioenergy production. Source: EEA website (link)

EREC & Greenpeace, Energy [r]evolution -- (4303 K) |
Hits: 13 |
|
The energy [r]evolution - A sustainable World Energy Outlook is a report by EREC and Greenpeace that provides a practical blueprint for how to half global CO2 emissions, while allowing for an increase in energy consumption by 2050. By dividing the world into 10 regions, with a global summary, it explains how existing energy technologies can be applied in more efficient ways. It demonstrates how a ‘business as usual’ scenario, based on IEA’s World Energy Outlook projections, is not an option for environmental, economic and security of supply reasons. A presentation of the report is available here (link) while more information about the general assumptions underlying the scenario, the accompanying energy efficiency study, etc. is available at the report website. ESHA, Small Hydropower Checklist -- (115 K) |
Hits: 22 |
|
This Small Hydropower Checklist, prepared by care of ESHA (European Small Hydropower Association), aims at giving potential, and even inexperienced, developers/investors of small hydropower plants first-hand comprehensive information and advice on all necessary procedures required to start and develop small-hydropower projects. Its objective is to guide the investor/developer so as to determine the viability of a project, using a simple step-by-step process. This checklist can be used in combination with the Guidebook on How to Develop a Small Hydropower Plant, where all the necessary steps mentioned in the checklist are explained in more depth and detail. More details and multilingual downloads are available at the ESHA website. (link)

IEA, 2007, Financing Energy Efficient Homes -- (690 K) |
Hits: 16 |
|
The IEA (International Energy Agency) has published in 2007 the report Financing Energy Efficient Homes - Existing policy responses to financial barriers. In its website (link) IEA introduces the report as follows: Existing buildings require over 40% of the world’s total final energy consumption, and account for 24% of world CO2 emissions (IEA, 2006a). Much of this consumption could be avoided through improved efficiency of building energy systems (IEA, 2006a) using current, commercially-viable technology. In most cases, these technologies make economic sense on a life-cycle cost analysis (IEA, 2006b). Moreover, to the extent that they reduce dependence on risk-prone fossil energy sources, energy efficient technologies also address concerns of energy security.
